One of the early ion barges back when they were new right after classic launched. It was designed to see how wide of an output was viable with the then new large shields. Four shields, 28 emitters and 7 outputs gave it the edge in mirror matches against other ion barges and ion orbiters. Reverse allowed for more favorable matchups where orbiters struggle. The tradeoff for greater defense and dps is less thrusters, so it tends to ram less and uses bi-directional thrust more. Steering is more difficult with less thrust, but some of that can be overcome with piloting. At the end of the day, there isn't much getting around the weaknesses inherent in having to point the entire ship to aim. The nerf to ion range didn't do it any favors either. It's fun and has it's good matchups, but the archetype has some problems.
