Datasheet for Crucible
[0.20.25][Rail Kiter] none, Crucible by 0neye, original by Vilda (1.5mill)
Design: Hard - Long supply routes to engines and inner rails requires some extra attention to detail and crew management (brought over from Vilda's).
Piloting: Moderate/Hard - Usual rail kiter piloting, but gets more challenging when in nuke range (being chased).
Heavily inspired by one of Vilda's rail kites (not posted), Crucible trades the mines for nukes and gains enough money for two more thruster blocks, allowing its top reverse speed to be ~111.
EMPs allow it to deal with shields on designs like avoiders and deck cannon orbiters.
Nukes seem to work well as a replacement for mines and often end up being the deciding factor against ships fast enough to chase it down. I haven't tried mines, however, so less speed and mines might still be viable, though I imagine it would lose to deck cannon orbiters.
I recently switched from using DC to RTS controls (move commands) for this and I'm liking it a lot better. No more issues due to lag or input delay and no more hitting asteroids.
Those who have fought this in MP will probably notice that I swapped two EMPs for two large shields.
